Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10

The first Vastum album that really grabbed me. Greg Wilkinson can be credited with closing the deal on this one. Chad’s drums sound perfect. There’s lots of replay value here. I wouldn’t call Vastum unique as others have, but they do know how to keep your attention.

This is a solid debut that is a showcase of potential above all else. Nothing here wowed me, but I would bet money that their next record is going to make waves. I agree with Bart that the middle third of the project is the strongest stretch.
